Wall of Honor - SPC Daniel "Lucas" Elliott

SPC Daniel “Lucas” Elliott, age 21, of Youngsville, NC, died on July 15, 2011, in Basra Iraq, in service to his country. Born in Raleigh, NC, on July 18, 1989, he was the son of Patti Elliott of Youngsville and Ed A. Elliott. Jr., of Louisburg. In addition he is survived by his wife Trisha Vibhakar Elliott of Raleigh, and his brother Brad Elliott of Eatonton, GA. Lucas attended Youngsville Elementary School for K-3 grade, after which he was home-schooled through high school. Lucas attended Vance-Granville Community College, North Georgia Military and Wake Tech. Lucas enlisted as a Military Policeman in the United States Army Reserve in January 2007 and completed Basic training and AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon his return to North Carolina, he was attached with the 805th MP CO, located in Cary, NC. In 2009, he volunteered for deployment with the 810th MP CO out of Tampa, FL., and completed a tour in Iraq. Upon his return, he reattached to the 805th and deployed with the 805th on May 2011.
Lucas was a member of Hopkins Baptist Church. Lucas was a member of Boy Scout Troop 261, sponsored by Rolesville Baptist Church, and earned his Eagle Scout designation in January 2007.
At age 12, Lucas began shooting on a high-powered rifle team sponsored by Sir Walter Gun Club, out of Creedmoor, NC. Lucas’s passion for shooting turned into a skill which earned him several medals and awards through both the State Games of North Carolina and the National Rifle Association Civilian Marksmanship Program.
Lucas was an avid hunter and fisherman. His love for those activities enticed many of his friends to begin hunting and fishing. He was a member of fellowship Gun Club, Castalia, NC.
