Wall of Honor - SSG Christopher Neal Piper

Christopher & Connie Piper
on their wedding day

Staff Sergeant Piper was a native of Marblehead, Massachusetts, and he is well known and loved by many people in this quiet little, New England seaside town. When he was in high school, he was the catcher on his baseball team, and he was one of the Captains of his football team.

Chris was a Marine Corps Scout Sniper in Beirut, Lebanon in 1982-1983. He had a break in active duty service but stayed in the Marine Corps Reserves. He had two children, Deirdre and Christopher, with his first wife, Colleen.

He then joined the US Army Special Forces, spending time with Combat Applications Group, before going on to the 7th Special Forces Group.

Chris was a stellar athlete.  At the age of 41, he maxed his PT test with a 2 mile run time of 12:29 seconds, and he did 97 push ups and 94 sit-ups.

Chris never really cared for hunting. He wanted to do something different after all that shooting and stalking as a Marine sniper.

He was a Master Craftsman (professional carpenter).  He was perfecting his planned career of building New England style homes.  He could do everything- from framing to roofing, to fine chisel work on kitchen cabinets and staircases. When I was in Marblehead one time, one of his best friends showed me his house, telling me that Chris helped build it.  He showed me the staircase that Chris built. It was a spiral staircase.
