Sullivan County Delta Waterfowl Chapter raises funds for Patriot Hunts and our wounded warriors

The Sullivan County Delta Waterfowl Chapter surprised Patriot Hunts and raised funds for our wounded warriors. This  Chapter had their annual banquet recently. Call makers Mark Dugan with “Honker Breaker Calls”, and Levi Baker of ‘Wingtamer Calls” both of Indiana, made 2 custom calls specifically for the purpose of being auctioned at the banquet, with the proceeds going to Patriot Hunts. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Area Chairman for Delta, Alex Grable who did not hesitate to agree to this. These calls were auctioned off, then someone asked that they pass the hat through the crowd to raise additional funds. Mr. Henry Bobe, who purchased the duck calls, then donated them back to the chapter to be sent along with the funds to Patriot Hunts, so the calls could be given to some wounded warriors. We will be taking 4 wounded warriors on several duck hunts in December and we will then give them out.

Mr. Charlie Trimble won a lab puppy that night, and decided to donate the pup back to auction it off again, with half of the proceeds going to the Sullivan County Chapter, and the other half going to Patriot Hunts. Trey and Angela Clark ended up with the puppy, ironically having recently lost their owned beloved dog. It was fitting that they ended up with a new puppy.

Mr. Ron Gould donated the barrels for the calls. A special thanks to Ronald Laun with RM Custom calls in Albemarle, NC for sharing our message with the folks in Indiana, and waterfowl enthusiasts across the country.

This chapter did not know who Patriot Hunts were, but they knew what we stood for, and that is our military. This community obviously has that same feeling and respect that we share. All of us at Patriot Hunts are moved by this gesture of kindness and generosity. These men and women of our armed forces sacrifice on a daily basis, sometimes with their life, and limbs. So when Americans, like those in Sullivan County, IN, step up without being asked to do so, it makes me very proud of this country knowing all hope is not lost. There are still patriots out there wanting to do the right thing, sometimes not knowing how, or when that opportunity to repay this debt we owe to our soldiers may come, but one thing is for sure. This community, this “Band of Brothers” came together on this day in Sullivan, Indiana, joined hands and simply said, “Thank you...”

There are no words to adequately express my gratitude on behalf of our soldiers, their families, and Patriot Hunts. I can simply say, you have my respect, and heartfelt thanks. “We must never leave a fallen comrade.”

Thanks to the Sullivan County Delta Waterfowl Chapter for your support.
